Farmers face the daily challenge of operating machinery efficiently, soil-conserving, and economically. In collaboration with PTG Reifendruckregelsysteme GmbH and OSB connagtive, BHTronik GmbH has developed a production-ready component for a Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS) from PTG that delivers an outstanding technical solution to these requirements.
PTG has been manufacturing and distributing tire pressure control systems for 35 years and is now among the global market leaders in the agricultural sector. This partnership combines PTG’s system and market expertise, OSB’s ISOBUS know-how, and BHTronik’s advanced capabilities in electronics and embedded software.
The CTIS adjusts tire pressure via manual command on the tractor terminal to match changing operating conditions. During field work, lower tire pressure reduces soil compaction, improves traction, and supports healthy soil structures.
On the road, higher pressure reduces rolling resistance, increases driving stability, lowers fuel consumption, and significantly decreases tire wear.BHTronik was responsible for the development of the electronic control unit, including embedded software, diagnostic architecture, and safety concept. The system is designed for functional safety and features safety redundancies, an external watchdog, and comprehensive monitoring functions. For BHTronik, this project marks a major milestone. It represents the first time a series product with functional safety has been developed and manufactured, highlighting the system’s exceptional quality and operational reliability.
